Activities in Cornwall While You Enjoy Your Spring Cottage Holidays

If you have made a decision to head down to Cornwall this spring and stay in a nice Cornish holiday Cottage…well, let’s just say lucky you! Veterans and locals alike make no secret of the fact that spring really is the most beautiful and enjoyable Cornish season of all – the swelling summer crowds not been to everyone’s tastes!

It’s natural to assume that most of the action is confined to the summer months, but there is in fact more to do in Cornwall in the springtime than you could possibly imagine. Holiday cottages are also cheaper (at least is what this local cottage holiday letting agency says) and with a special magic attached to this time of the year. So if you are heading to England’s gorgeous southwest in the coming weeks, here’s a quick rundown of just a few highly recommended activities not to miss out on:

1 – Go Exploring

There is quite simply no better time of year to strap on a pair of decent shoes or jump on a bike and head out for a spot of adventure. The springtime transforms the landscape of Cornwall into something quite spectacularly beautiful, the likes of which demands extensive exploration. Plan a walk, head out on a random hike or simply take the bikes around town – you will absolutely not be disappointed.

2 – Satisfy Your Cravings

If you consider yourself to be a bit of a foodie, Cornwall has a well-deserved reputation for being the gastronomic capital of the United Kingdom. The place is packed with stunning cafes and restaurants, markets and specialist food stores – the springtime also brings the arrival of the year’s greatest food festivals. The Porthleven Food & Music Festival takes place in late April and is absolutely unmissible – check out an events calendar and see what’s happening during your visit.

3 – Enjoy a BBQ

Even while the rest of the United Kingdom is still struggling to cope with the winter weather, those lucky enough to be in Cornwall are already firing up the barbecue. There’s really nothing like the first outdoor grill session of the season to really get you looking forward to the months ahead – why not have your first BBQ of the year in Cornwall?

4 – Take your dogs out

Most beaches allow dogs all year round except on the summer months, so this is a great time to let your furry one run free. Why not take the chance to stretch your legs as well, now that the beaches are still mostly empty? More info here:

5 – Beach Life

Last but not least, the weather may be somewhat hit and miss from one day to the next in March, but come late April you might be surprised just how many beach-perfect days there are, weak in and week out. So whether it’s for an enchanting sunrise stroll, a beautiful sunset picnic or lazy afternoon watching the waves, the beach season begins in Cornwall so much earlier than anywhere else in the country.
