Here are some of the most anticipated Scotland is hosting in 2015.

Edinburgh Restaurant Festival- October 2015

The Scottish capital has a huge amount of world-class restaurants hidden amongst it’s gusty streets and avenues, but if you’re hankering after all things haggis the best time to visit is in October when the city’s Restaurant Festival kicks off. During the two week event (soon to be given a definitive date) a host of Edinburgh’s restaurants open up and offer a mix of excellent dining offers and food-centric events.

Ayr Gold Cup Festival- 17th-19th September

Scotland isn’t particularly known for horse racing, the accolade usually being bestowed to it’s southerly neighbour, but there’s a thriving and vibrant racing community here that could easily rival the likes of Cheltenham or Ascot. Ayr Racecourse is Scotland’s prime course, and the Gold Cup Festival the top event of the course’s season, making this a festival that begs a visit, big hats, glasses of bubbly and wagers via Coral akimbo! Lots of Scottish horses are running at the upcoming Cheltenham Festival (England’s top racing event), a testament to the skill of the hardy steeds.

The Scottish Highland Games- May to September

For a showcase of all things Celtic, caber and kilt, the Highland Games is a series of events no visitor should miss out on seeing. Held at a huge variety of locations between the start of May and the end of September (take a look at where they’re taking place when plan your trip) the games feature competitions in practically every aspect of Scottish and Gaelic culture, and are always very entertaining.

Glasgow International Comedy Festival- 12th-21st March

The biggest comedy festival in Europe, Glasgow International Comedy Festival is taking over Scotland’s second city in 2015, featuring a massive amount of acts that are local, national and international in their origin.
