  1. Seal Rocks, Myall Lakes National Park, NSW

The kids will love the Seal Rocks campsite, located opposite the beach with its glistening sand and turquoise blue water. Popular with local surfers and scuba divers, this is a spot that is warm and friendly with no major developments. They have powered and unpowered sites, room for caravans or RVs, and cabins, as well.

  1. Cape Le Grand National park, WA

Just a short drive south-east of Esperance you will find one of the most spectacular coastal camping sites in Australia. Camping is rather rustic with a communal kitchen and septic toilets, but if you want scenery – this is it. You might have to dodge the kangaroos basking on the beach, but the beautiful white beaches, awesome surf, rocky headlands and abundant wildlife make it worth the trip.

  1. Poona, Fraser Coast, QLD

A lovely spot, 30km south of Maryborough and a stone’s throw away from Fraser Island. Popular with avid fishermen, this camping spot has safe beaches for the kids, easy boat ramp access and lots of wildlife – dugongs, turtles and dolphins. So, if you want a relaxed lifestyle, peace and quiet, and good fishing, then this is the spot for you

  1. Ellery Creek Hole, West MacDonnell National park, NT

Recognised as an internationally significant geological site, this permanent water hole is a stunning spot for camping in the NT (90 km west of Alice Springs). The road in is good for 2-wheel drives and the campsite is very basic with sites on a first come – first served basis; there is an amenities block and little else. Except of course, the stunningly beautiful scenery and the refreshing and awesome water hole – which is safe for swimming.

  1. Kangaroo Island, off the coast of Adelaide, SA

Accessible by ferry from Cape Jervis, Kangaroo Island is a spectacular spot for a holiday. Do you want untouched beauty, isolated beaches and awesome wildlife? With a large cave system worthy of exploring, resident seal and fairy penguin colonies, as well as wallabies, koalas and kangaroos, this is a back to nature holiday you will never forget. There is a variety of camping areas available on the island, all of which are clean, but basic.
