Get Your Arts and Culture On in Europe

There are so many places and areas of Europe that are steeped in culture and you are equally spoilt for choice when it comes to art too.

Here is a look at just some of the top destinations where you might want to pay a cultural visit to.

Salzburg

The city of Salzburg in Austria has a nickname given to it by art lovers who call it the Golden City of High Baroque and when you consider that it is also the birthplace of Mozart, you can see why it is such a popular destination.

The world-renowned Salzburg Festival has been going since 1920 and runs between mid-July and the beginning of September, so that is a great time to visit the area and take in the simply stunning architecture and views that envelope this great city of culture.

Rome

The city of Rome has to be considered one of the finest capitals in Europe and visual reminders of its powerful presence in a previous time in history are all around you.

It is fair to say that Rome is the treasure warehouse of Italy and from the architectural wonder that is the colosseum to the stunning collections of art and historical artefacts in the museums, there is simply not enough hours in the day to take in all the cultural sights on offer.

Paris

The city of Paris is more than just the capital of France, it offers an embarrassment of riches with bohemian and art-based areas and iconic monuments and architecture as well.

A great way of seeing all that Paris has to offer and immersing yourself in the local vibe, is to rent a flat or house in one of the arrondissements of Paris, which are the 20 numbered districts of the city. A good source of property rentals is HouseTrip, who rent houses and flats out for local owners in many locations around Europe.

Some people have asked, Is HouseTrip safe? But when you look at the many reviews available and the fact that you can read about the owners of the place you are thinking of booking, the experience is more likely to be a positive one and it’s a good way of seeing a city from a local perspective rather than as a tourist.

Basel

Sometimes Basel lives in the shadow of the reputation that Zurich and Geneva enjoy as cultural destinations, but Basel is in many ways, more sophisticated than either of these cities.

Basel offers an eclectic mixture of cosmopolitan and sometimes eccentric sights and experiences with many art and general cultural events to provide you with a memorable time when you visit this lovely region of Switzerland that sits between the frontiers of France and Germany.

Cambridge

If you are looking for a truly English cultural experience, the city of Cambridge offers everything you would expect and a lot more too.

Medieval streets and passages are in the shadow of many historical buildings and university spires and taking a punt along the river is a very British thing to do. Famed for its University, Cambridge is a wonderful cultural experience and well worth spending a few days wandering around the area.

If you enjoy the arts and culture, then these are just some of the many excellent destinations you can head to for a wonderful experience.
