How 30 James Street is Bringing History and Movies to Life

James Cameron’s Titanic (1997) is one of the biggest blockbuster movies of all time, telling the fictional account of the sinking of RMS Titanic. Like all great films, Titanic brought history to life, and one of the main reasons behind its success was due to intrigue surrounding the disaster.

Audience members fell in love with the extravagance of the ship, including the splendour of the iconic grand staircase. 30 James Street – just like the Titanic movie – is helping bring history to life, as people can feel like a first class passenger aboard the world famous liner in their Titanic hotel in Liverpool.

The Hotel

30 James Street is not your average themed hotel. Whilst many hotels have emerged over the years to stand out from the crowd, 30 James Street – Home of the Titanic’s goal is to celebrate the building’s history and the city of Liverpool’s maritime heritage.

The building once served as the White Star Line’s headquarters – which history lovers will know was RMS Titanic’s port of registry, and it is this reason the city’s name was lettered on her stern. It was also here that RMS Titanic’s crew would have received their orders, including Captain Edward J. Smith.

The Movie-Inspired Rooms

30 James Street both celebrates the White Star Line’s history and commemorates RMS Titanic in its stunning cabins, quarters, luxury doubles and suites. It also celebrates the movies that ensure we never forget about the maritime disaster, including A Night to Remember and Titanic movie-inspired rooms.

A Night to Remember

The book A Night to Remember by Walter Lord has been adapted twice for the big screen. The book, which was written in 1955, is believed to be a definitive RMS Titanic resource, and so it was only natural that its facts would be adapted into a film.

The first movie adaptation was in 1942 and starred Loretta Young, Brian Aherne and William Wright. The second and most successful adaptation was released in 1958, and starred Kenneth More, Honor Blackman and Robert Ayres, and was heralded as “the definitive cinematic telling of the story”.

30 James Street’s A Night to Remember Quarter is the perfect amalgamation of modern facilities with traditional decor, offering all the grandeur of RMS Titanic. You will therefore feel like a first class passenger in 30 James Street’s Liverpool accommodation.

Titanic (1997)

Titanic the movie ensured the tragedy remains at the forefront of the public’s minds, bringing to life real-life passengers and crew in the fictionalised account of the story. The whole world fell in love with the forbidden romance between the protagonists Jack Dawson and Rose DeWitt Bukater, and so it would only be fitting to dedicate a hotel room to the two characters.
