Packing checklist for a short business trip

Business trips are common in many organizations whereby employees travel to different destinations to represent the company in one business deal or another. These trips can either be long or short depending on the activities that are to take place in the particular destination. In both these types of business trips there is need to pack items that will be used on the trip to make the stay as hassle free as possible. Short business trips may seem much easier to pack for but that is not the case for many business travellers. Here are some tips on the items that a business traveller going for a short trip should include when packing.

Clothing – this is the most obvious item that must be packed by any business traveller. However, the types of clothes to be packed should include official wear as well as other clothes that can be worn over the weekend.  Clothes that must be packed for the trip include shirts, pants, socks, shoes as well as underwear, that should be enough for the number of days that the trip is going to last. Furthermore, packing wrinkle resistant clothing lessens the preparation time at the business trip destination.

Toiletries – these items are also important and should be prepared in advance before the packing process begins. If you are travelling by air then you will have to follow the rules that have been put up restricting the amount of toiletries that one can carry. If possible carry only the essential ones as most hotels offer the basic toiletries that are used on a daily basis. For a short business trip consider carrying toothpaste, shampoo, tooth brush or even soap.

Travel documents – Without the proper travel documents, travelling for the business trip will be impossible. Therefore, it is important to make sure that the documents are valid and if possible have copies made that will be part of your travelling gear. Some of the most important travel documents that must be packed include your passport, driving licence, medical related documents among others.

Personal effects – When travelling for business or leisure there are some personal items that you may not be able to do without, if you are to have a successful trip. These personal effects may differ from one person to another but some of the common ones include electronics such as laptops when on a business trip or even a book that can be read on the plane to keep busy. If the business trip involves a presentation, it is important to have a memory stick as part of what is packed for the journey.

Travel guide – There are times when a business trip is planned to a destination that you have never visited before, making the need for a travel guide quite important. Browsing through a travel guide of the area makes it easier to know which mode of transport to use, sights to visit in your free time among other activities.
