If you are looking to buy a property overseas it is likely you will need an international transfer facility to ensure that you can send lump sums of money overseas for deposits, building work, mortgages etc in a safe and secure environment. Private banks offer facilities to do so this such as RaphealsBank.com FX Services

Costa del Sol

The unemployment rate may be high at the moment, but you’re not looking for a job so why worry. There are a number of destinations in Spain worthy of retirement and each of them will offer their own qualities and price tags. The Costa del Sol is great for any avid lovers of golf and sunshine. One of the major regional airports is Malaga, but Gibraltar is also relatively cheap to fly to, and Marbella lies nearly equidistant between the two. Marbella is quaint in terms of size and population, but the neighbouring extravagant Puerto Banus hikes up the prices somewhat. Fuengirola is a slightly cheaper option, which still has enough of a city vibe to make sure you feel you’re not completely removed from reality. If you would prefer a more scenic and isolated area, Benahavis and Duquesa are excellent choices. The former is lauded for its great cuisine and sits on top of the hills, but the real estate is slightly pricier. Duquesa has its own port and both are within travelling distance of places such as Marbella and Malaga.

Barcelona

Obviously one of the mast famous cities in the world, and one which delivers everything in terms of climate, things to do, impressive architecture, a beach and fantastic cuisine. As with any major city in our modern climate, living costs are quite high, so unless you have retired with a winning lottery ticket or possess investments which will help you sustain your lifestyle, other options in Spain may be more realistic. Barcelona is blessed with the fantastic architecture of Gaudi who was born and raised in the city. La Sagrada Familia is probably his most famous structure in Barcelona. If you still have a passion for football you can go and spectate arguably the best team in the world, Barcelona FC at the Nou Camp, which as a stadium is worth a visit in itself.
