The Lake District

The Lake District was a popular choice with poets and romantics hundreds of years ago, and it still hasn’t lost its charm! With its beautiful English Lakes including the famous Windermere and breath-taking fells, the Cumbrian countryside is truly stunning and is the perfect place to escape to for a weekend of romance.

For a truly tranquil retreat, escape the other tourists and head to the Winster Valley. Here you can enjoy gorgeous scenery, romantic walks and traditional country pubs in peace and quiet.

Lincolnshire

There’s far more on offer in Lincolnshire than Skegness! Think beautiful stone towns, fresh sea air, gorgeous architecture and breath-taking scenery in the form of the rolling Lincolnshire Wolds, and you can start to build up a picture in your mind of what this Midlands county is really about.

City lovers won’t want to stray too far away from Lincoln where you can visit the majestic gothic cathedral and see England’s finest example of the Magna Carta at the medieval castle, but if you’d prefer a more peaceful retreat head to the quirky village of Woodhall Spa where you’ll find a whole host of beautiful buildings, unique shops and a fascinating traditional cinema.

The Cotswolds

This list just wouldn’t be complete without The Cotswolds. Arguably the best place in England to go on a romantic weekend away, the area’s beautiful rustic cottages and rolling countryside really are as perfect as the postcards suggest! There are plenty of beautiful hotels and cottages to choose from during your stay, and some of our favourite villages include Bourton on the Water (it’s also known as the Little Venice of the Cotswolds), Naunton, and Stow on the Wold – an ancient market town where you’ll be treated to glorious views of the Welsh mountains.

Cornwall

If beach holidays are more your thing, you’ll love what’s on offer in Cornwall! The county is surrounded by more than 300 miles of coastline, and there are plenty of beaches and coastal footpaths where you can soak up the sun or take in the brisk sea air. There’s also plenty of natural beauty to be found in the countryside to the south.

It wouldn’t be a romantic break without a dinner date, so take advantage of the abundance of delicious fresh seafood on offer and take your pick from some of the UK’s best restaurants. For true foodies, The Harbour is truly unmissable.  Quietly tucked away at the top of the slipway in Port Isaac, it combines delicious seasonal ingredients with a cosy and intimate atmosphere. It’s sure to be a date you’ll remember!
