Kayaking

Kayaking is popular in San Diego, and one of the top spots to go is La Jolla Sea Caves. You can head here on an organized tour with guides and explore all the caves, and you may even be lucky enough to see some seals and dolphins while you are on the water. Alternatively, head to Coronado, where you can also rent a kayak or join a tour for the afternoon.

Snorkeling

It is easy to find a vacation stay among the various San Diego vacation rentals, and once you’ve found the perfect place to stay you may want to try out some snorkeling. Snorkeling is one of the most popular activities in San Diego. It’s suitable for all ages, making it a great family activity. Head to La Jolla Ecological Reserve for some of the best snorkeling available. You can rent your own equipment or go with a guide, and make sure you keep an eye out for rays and leopard sharks.

Biking

One of the best ways to discover San Diego and the surrounding area is by bike. There are plenty of places to go cycling, but if you want to enjoy one of the best tours you should do the La Jolla Freefall. This three-hour tour starts at the peak of Mount Soledad and goes all the way down to the coast.

Jet Skiing

For some fun in the sun during the afternoon, rent a jet ski at the beach and head out onto the waves. The kids will love sitting on the back while you shoot along the water, and you should keep your eyes out for the fish and other sea creatures as there is plenty to see.

Jetpacks

If you’ve ever wanted to pretend to be James Bond by strapping on a real jetpack, your dream will come true at Mission Bay Sportcenter. Here you will receive personal instruction and you can then pay for flight sessions of between 15 and 50 minutes to hover over Mission Bay on your very own jetpack.

Surfing

San Diego is known for its surfing, and if you are a beginner you may want to get some lessons to start you off. If you already know what you’re doing, there are plenty of top surf spots to try out, including Oceanside, La Jolla Shores, Trestles and Del Mar.

Cruises

There are a variety of options for cruises around San Diego. Go on a harbour tour to see all of the important landmarks and historic sites, or go on a dedicated whale-watching tour to see grey whales, seals and dolphins. You could even book a dinner cruise and watch the stunning sunset.

Active Fun in San Diego

San Diego is a popular holiday destination for many reasons, but its huge range of activities is certainly one of the biggest attractions. So take your pick from any of the above activities and enjoy an active time in the California sun when you stay in San Diego.
