7 Of The Best States And What To Do There

America is a big place, and whether you live there or not, you will probably want to do some travelling around the states at least once in your life. There is so much to do and see, so many different cultures and natural wonders and climates. Here is a whirlwind tour of 7 of my favourites and what to do there. Hold on to your hat!

Washington
Washington

This is of course where the president lives, go here to see the White House and the US Supreme Court. The Smithsonian museum is full of national treasures and will occupy you for a day on it’s own. Nature lovers should also go hiking at great falls park.

California

You don’t really need telling about California do you? Ok, it’s on the west coast, it’s hot, sunny, lots of sandy beaches and beautiful people. Whale watching in LA has to be one of the best highlights, and of course there is Hollywood… Need I say more?

Colorado

Colorado is a state of incredible natural beauty, the Rocky Mountains are covered in snow during the winter months and are a skier or snowboarder’s paradise. During the summer hiking and mountain biking are great alternatives and wildlife spotting is fun too.

New York

Well, where do you start? New York is simply the most famous, hectic and lively city in the world. Even if you live in London, this city will seem truly massive to you and just taking in all the lights and hustle and bustle is enough to keep you occupied. Shopping is of course the main activity, but there is a wealth of museums, arcades and really just about anything you can imagine to do.

Florida

The sunshine state has that name for a good reason, but there is more to do in Florida than just chill out on the beach. The Florida keys are very beautiful and full of great walking and hiking opportunities. Hover Craft boat tours run through the Everglades and give you the opportunity to meet plenty of gators. Or visit Miami port and maybe even take a cruise.

Hawaii

Hawaii is probably the closest thing you will ever get to paradise. The state is made up entirely of small islands, and is set in a warm, tropical climate. The main attractions of Hawaii, other than the sun, sea and sand are the nature. This is a scuba diver’s paradise and there are numerous spots where you can see tropical fish, sharks, rays and turtles as well as other more obscure marine life.

Alaska

Like mountains and snow? Great, definitely pop in here then. Alaska is a big state though, with lots to do. Hiking in the back country is amazing, and if you can take a guide he will no doubt show you some views you couldn’t imagine. If you are something of an adrenaline junky why not get stuck in to some white water rafting (best during the spring), wildlife watching and rock climbing (during the summer).
